Sketchbook assignment #1: 16 Crayons, self-portrait and a reflective surface

Sketchbook Assignment #2: Mapping Your Identity

Begin by drawing a three inch by three inch square in the middle of your page. In the square, place a drawing of yourself (you are welcome to interpret 'drawing' and 'self' in any way you please). Then from the square radiating out, build a concept map of who you are

Sketchbook Assignment #3: Depict a scene as you imagined it from one of your favorite songs, it could be based on lyrics or just how something made you feel. Use watercolor paint or pen for the works. Make it as colorful or as muted as you feel the song portrays. Then somewhere in the image write the specific song or lyrics you are basing the work on. Using images, not complete abstractions.

Sketchbook #4: Pick and animal you think represents your personality and draw them with traits you have (could dress them like you, if you wear glasses, put them in glasses, if you play a sport, draw them playing it, etc.) If you can’t think of an animal that represents your personality, just draw your favorite animal.

Assignment #5:Draw one of the next meal that you WILL eat, take a picture of it before you eat. -Use colored pencils or markers-Use colors to describe how that meal made you feel.

Sketchbook Assignment #6. The learner will draw something with folds or creases (curtain, blanket, scrunchie, etc.) in a monochromatic color scheme using colored pencils. Do not use black. Notice highlights and shadows. Have a specific light source like a lamp, candle, or flashlight that casts shadows on the object you are drawing.

Sketchbook Assignment #7. Put yourself into the setting of your favorite cartoon! Make sure to include at least one of the other characters. You can choose whether or not you want to include a background. Use colored pencils to carry out this assignment. Remember to have fun and be creative!

Sketchbook Assignment #8. Draw what would happen in a refrigerator after the door closes using water color or colored pencil

Sketchbook Assignment #9: Choose a location or setting that helps you relax during a stressful time. This can be an indoor or outdoor location. Within your location, draw at least five objects within the setting that either help you relax or set the mood. You can include pets, natural found objects from outside, or things you like doing in said setting. Materials for drawing can be anything 2D. Focus on having the perspective as if you were standing, laying down, or sitting while looking through the setting.
