Alcohol inks are a very interesting medium and a very easy tool to make incredibly vibrant and abstract designs. Alcohol ink is very interactive because of the way it spread out and is manipulated by air and rubbing alcohol. It is essential to use the right type of paper to achieve the look below, specifically waterproof paper. The way I created these designs was by places drops of alcohol ink onto a page and using a straw to blow the ink into the direction I wanted it to go. Adding drops of rubbing alcohol with a pipet, allows the ink to become thinner and move greater distances, but also reduces the saturation of the color. If I wanted an area to be more saturated and vibrant I would only use the straw or leave it to interact on its own. Adding the rubbing alcohol makes the ink spread out and interact with the remaining ink more dramatically. I also learned that using a sponge after the ink is applied creates more texture and can be manipulated more by the artist.
